The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy For 18 Teams Will Begin Play on October 26
Following the postponement of the 2024–25 Quaid-e-Azam trophy, the PCB revealed the final schedule for Pakistan’s top domestic first-class championship. The competition will start on October 26 and end on December 19.
The days of being frugal with the number of teams have vanished in a significant revamp. This year, 18 teams from 16 different regions will compete in the QeA; Karachi and Lahore will each have two teams. Only eight teams participated in the event last year, compared to just six the four years before. The reigning champions are the Karachi Whites.
According to a statement from Abdullah Niazi, director of domestic operations, “The Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is the pinnacle of domestic cricket in Pakistan as it is not just a tournament but also an event that showcases the immense talent across the country and prepares them for the challenges of international cricket.”

We have already shown that we can successfully manage the Champions One-Day Cup and are dedicated to fortifying our domestic system. The successful implementation of the Quaid-e-Azam Trophy is still at the core of this dedication.

October 26 is a later commencement date than is customary. The competition has only started after this date twice in the previous 15 years. To push the first-class competition further into the season, the PCB decided to host the Champions One-Day Cup in September, Pakistan’s only significant window of openness until May.
Pakistan’s Test season, the busiest this century, will already be well into the fifth of seven home games when the Quaid-e-Azam trophy begins. One week before the first Test in South Africa on December 26, the final starts on December 19.

Saud Shakeel, the vice-captain of Pakistan, said earlier on Tuesday that the first-class competition might be used to duplicate those conditions to prepare for the tour of South Africa.
We could prepare such surfaces if first-class cricket existed before South Africa. However, we should set conditions and pitches based on the opposition and series by series.
